History of Asan
In 1966, a group of educators in Chennai founded a school named after Mahakavi Kumaran Asan, a poet who believed knowledge was the greatest equalizing force. They laid foundations for something larger than they could have imagined.
Sixty years later, Asan Memorial stands as proof of that founding belief. As Tamil Nadu's first private CBSE school, it has built a legacy of academic excellence, modern pedagogy, and distinguished alumni across every sector. Today, it remains a testament to what happens when an institution refuses to compromise on its values.
The Man behind the Mission
Our Founder General Secretary & Chairman
Shri A.K. Gopalan built a movement.
A civil engineer by training, he brought precision to education. But what he was building could not be measured in steel or stone. As Founder, General Secretary and Chairman of the Asan Memorial Association, he spent nearly fifty years doing one thing with unwavering consistency: creating spaces where young people could become who they were truly destined to be.
Under his leadership, the Asan Memorial Group of Educational Institutions grew with purpose. It expanded across Chennai, reached more students, opened more doors, without losing sight of its founding reason. He was the guiding force, and living proof that vision paired with decades of quiet dedication becomes a lasting legacy.
